Acne is an annoying skin condition that occurs when hair follicles plug with oil and dead skin cells, and many of us know this condition all too well. There are quite a few over-the-counter options or prescription acne medications taken by mouth instead of — or in addition to — topical treatments. But what about natural supplements? 1. Zinc Acetate Cream
Acts as an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory for your skin. Taking at least 30mg of an oral zinc supplement may also help.
2. Pantothenic Acid
Pantothenic acid helps to decrease sebum secretion. Try taking a 2g dose four times per day, along with a cream that contains pantothenic acid four to six times per day.
3. Vitex (or Chasteberry)
Helps maintain a normal hormonal balance. You can take 2-4 drops of the solution, or 2-4 capsules of powdered herb, three times daily. Vitex is also a herbal remedy for PMS and cramps.
4. Evening Primrose Oil
You can take evening primrose oil 2-4 times per day to help fight acne-causing inflammation. Your bones, hair, and hormone health may also improve.
5. Tea Tree or Lavender Oil
Both oils are known for their ability to treat wounds and powerful antiseptic properties. You can apply it externally two or three times each day.
6. Oregon Grape Root
A traditional remedy to effectively reduce inflammation of acne. Take 0.5-1 teaspoon of the liquid solution in a little water, or 2-3 capsules, two or three times per day.
7. Burdock Root & Seed
Drinking 1 cup of tea or 2 full droppers of the tincture two or three times daily can help purify the blood. Burdock root has been valued across the world for thousands of years for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.
