Are you continuously looking for ways to improve yourself? We’ve compiled a list of 15 of the best tips to help personal growth.
1. Read A Book Every Day
Books are wonderful sources of wisdom and the more wisdom you expose yourself to the more you can grow. Some personal growth books we enjoy are Think and Growth Rich, Who Moved My Cheese, and 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People. They are simple to understand and offer different perspectives.
2. Find A Weekly Exercise Routine
Regular exercise can make you happier by decreasing feelings of depression, anxiety, and stress. It’s good for your muscles and bones, helps with weight loss, increases your energy levels, and reduces your risk of chronic disease. Find yourself an exercise plan you like and stick with it.
3. Quit A Bad Habit Each Month
What bad habits are still around that shouldn’t be? Oversleeping? Eating sweets all day? Slouching? Biting your nails? Smoking? It’s time to kick these habits to the curb by finding something positive to substitute for these poor choices.
4. Avoid Negative People
It’s been stated: You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. There are going to be negative people wherever you go, so don’t spend too much time with them or they might end up dragging you down as well.
5. Stop Watching TV
Turning off your TV is a liberating experience. You begin to realize how much time you have in each day, you avoid the negativity of the news, and you aren’t brainwashed by ads and their catchy jingles. You are able to turn that time into constructive purposes such as connecting with friends, doing something you love, exercising, etc.
6. Pick Up A New Hobby
Picking up something unfamiliar helps relieve stress and gives you a new outlet to express yourself. Participating in new activities keeps your mind engaged and challenges yourself to break a mundane routine.
7. Identify Your Flaws & Work On Fixing Them
Everyone has them, so it’s important to learn to understand them. Turning a blind eye to your own flaws can hasten your downfall and others will learn to exploit them. Know your flaws, acknowledge them, and then start addressing them.
8. Improve Your Skills
You should never stop learning new things, and focus on constantly “leveling up” your skills in your field of expertise. By doing so, you promote yourself into a valuable, go-to person for information, news, and help.
9. Challenge Yourself
Being able to successfully set and achieve personal goals for yourself will enrich your life in a number of ways. It will provide you with something to aim for, greater clarity on what is truly important, and gives you control of your future. Not sure how to challenge yourself? Set a challenge (weight loss, exercise, financial challenge, etc.) with an interested friend.
10. Ask For Feedback
Whenever you’re focused on improving yourself there are bound to be blind spots. Asking others for feedback will give you an additional perspective. Don’t be afraid to request feedback from friends, family, colleagues, bosses, or acquaintances.
11. Learn From Those Who Inspire You
Your admiration often determines your knowledge. You learn from those whom you admire. Learn to be more caring, enthusiastic, stay positive, build people up, and more.
12. Let Go Of The Past
The unhappiness and grievances from the past should be left there. Holding onto them prevents you from moving forward and becoming the person you’re supposed to be. Anchor yourself in the future and center your thoughts on a positive view of tomorrow.
13. Show Kindness
We all know that sometimes it’s really hard to be kind, but underneath it all, we are vulnerable. Do something kind for yourself like reflecting on your past achievements or treating yourself to something nice. Then, do one kind thing for someone else – give a genuine compliment or help a person who is struggling. Others will appreciate your kindness, and chances are, you’ll feel better too.
14. Start A Business Venture
Is there one thing you absolutely love? It’s time to take your passion and make it happen. Spend time brainstorming, find mentors, surround yourself with supportive people, and be realistic. You’ll need to work twice as hard as you ever have, but you won’t mind because you will really believe in what you’re doing.
15. Commit To Your Personal Development
It doesn’t matter how many articles you read about improving yourself if you have no plan to actually make it happen. We are all responsible for our own personal growth. Not your mom, dad, friends, or significant other. Decide to take action and choose a few of these steps to start working on today. Stick to it and you’ll start seeing positive changes in yourself and your life.
